DR. JAMES E. BURKHOLDER
D.D.S., F.I.C.O.I.
Dr. James Burkholder is a native Texan, and has practiced dentistry in the Rio Grande Valley since 1981. Dr. Burkholder and his staff attend annual continuing education classes through the Texas Dental Association, and the L.D.Pankey Institute.
Dr. Burkholder graduated from Baylor College of Dentistry in 1981, and has taken many post-graduate courses in adult restorative prosthodontics. He promotes the philosophy of the Pankey Institute upholding that each patient deserves to be presented with the best treatment that will help them keep their teeth for a lifetime in maximum comfort and esthetics.
One of Dr. Burkholder's main interests is restoring missing teeth with dental implants. Since 1986, he has been helping patients by using dental implants to enable them to smile, chew, and feel young again. He attends many post-graduate courses yearly to keep up to date with the new technology of dental implants. Recently, Dr. Burkholder was awarded Fellowship status with the International Congress of Oral Implantology. The I.C.O.I. offers training yearly to educate implant dentists with the latest research on dental implantology.
Dr. Burkholder is past president of the Rio Grande Valley District Dental Society. He is on dental staff at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen. He is also an active member in the Academy of Osseointegration (implant society), and the Harlingen Rotary Club. He is married and has a teenage son. Together they enjoy fishing, music, and traveling, and on his own, Dr. Burkholder is busy oil painting.
